Mission Statement
Shanti Generation Foundation is committed to cultivating a generation of peacemakers through leadership training in yoga, compassionate communication, peer-teaching and conscious social action. SGF provides young people access to empowering educational opportunities for learning critical skills to become social change agents.
SGF is also committed to providing teachers and parents interactive opportunities for integrating mindfulness in classrooms, at home and in their own lives. We provide wellness retreats, professional development and workshops geared specifically to the needs of parents and teachers.
Core Concept
By mindfully engaging in the paradox of unity and diversity, participants in Shanti Generation Foundation embrace difference and recognize interconnectivity.
Vision
Shanti Generation Foundation envisions social and emotional wellness in schools and the world. In our vision, teachers, youth and parents are powerful, creative participants in the development of rich learning environments that foster social and ecological responsibility.
Shanti Generation Foundation is dedicated to the empowerment of youth, teachers and parents through intercultural educational opportunities to cultivate skills for co-creating personal wellness, social justice and global peace consciousness.

Shanti Generation Youth Peacemakers Training
A year-long training experience for youth cohorts to engage in peacemaking practices including: yoga, compassionate communication, mindful awareness training, peer teaching techniques and conscious social action. Monthly, six-hour workshops over a nine month period are followed by three months of project-based social action. Each month, experts in the fields of yoga, neuroscience and social sciences will guest teach. This intensive experience guides youth to identify mentors and allies within their home communities to assist them in developing opportunities to teach peacemaking skills to others.
Voice Aloud My Possibility
This initiative invites youth to create and share a vision of the world they want to live in. Beginning with the question, “what change would you like to see happen in your community?” teens are guided to reflect first on how they can enact that change in themselves. The process continues with narrative writing from their own histories followed by a re-writing presenting their future visions. The final outcome is a recorded guided imagery visualization that can be shared with their community. This is a web-based initiative. Youth will be able to upload their visualization recordings and listen to the visions of others. The site will offer a free down-loadable teacher’s manual for facilitating the creation process, as well as a template for youth to create their visualizations online.
Youth In Attendance (YIA)
YIA provides funding and logistical support to bring youth to conferences and symposiums on wellness and consciousness.
